Medical Assistant & Care Navigator Job Summary

The Medical Assistant & Care Navigator provides support to both patients and providers In office by performing administrative duties, providing Information and assistance, and supporting the operations of the office.

Medical Assistant & Care Navigator Core Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Effectively and accurately performs laboratory procedures including completion of drug screens, venipuncture draw, vital signs, specimen collection and COVID testing
  • Follows intake procedure and ensures completion of intake process, providing support to both patients and providers as needed
  • Enters appropriate information into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
  • Ensures compliance with all policies and procedures, including maintaining patient confidentiality, as well as compliance with requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e. OSHA, CLIA, HIPAA, Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services, etc.)       
  • Identifies and resolves work problems to ensure quality patient service 
  • Communicates effectively within the organization providing regular updates to providers, supervisors and peers about current and completed tasks
  • Addresses complaints by providers, staff, and patients; escalates to management, when necessary 
  • Provides coverage for ancillary services when needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Medical Assistant & Care Navigator Job Requirements & Qualifications:

  • Education/Experience:
    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • 1-year prior healthcare experience preferred.
  • Licenses/Certifications:
    • Current Medical Assistant certification preferred.
    • Phlebotomy certification required.
    • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
  • Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
    • Knowledge of medications, standard medical procedures, and administrative procedures.
    • Knowledge of medications, standard medical procedures, and administrative procedures.
    • Ability to effectively measure patient vitals (I.e. blood pressure) and perform procedures such as venipuncture and specimen collection.

Physical Requirements

  • This is an office-type role with primarily sedentary job duties and limited reaching, pulling, pushing, or carrying.
  • This job requires the use of medical equipment used to take patient vitals, perform venipuncture, and take specimen samples for other tests.
