Taylor Kemp is a Licensed Professional Counselor with the Mental Health Service Provider designation (LPC-MHSP). A Nashville native now based in Memphis, he earned his Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Trevecca Nazarene University. He has worked in behavioral health since 2018 in both clinical and operational roles, and currently serves as Director of Clinical Operations at Athena Care while carrying his own caseload. The operations work is how he tries to make the system run better for people who will never sit in his office; the clinical work is why he cares whether it does.

As a clinician, Taylor practices as a generalist, working primarily from Person-Centered, Cognitive Behavioral, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy approaches. He has training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and the treatment of compulsive sexual behaviors. He works with adolescents 12 and older and adults, most often around grief, depression, anxiety, trauma, addiction, and stage-of-life transitions.

Sessions with Taylor tend to be warm, direct, and practical. He is kind without being fragile about it; he’ll sit with the hard thing as long as it takes and won’t rush you past it, but he also believes understanding a problem is only half the work. The other half is what changes on Tuesday morning. Expect plain language, honesty offered gently, and someone who takes your goals seriously enough to ask whether you’re actually moving toward them.

Outside the office, Taylor is usually outdoors with his family, chasing a better espresso shot at home or at a new coffee shop, at the board game table, or watching soccer. Every December he and his family ruck the St. Jude Memphis Half Marathon together, a tradition in its tenth year.
