Carmen Elkins is a Licensed Professional Counselor – Mental Health Service Provider (LPC-MHSP) who provides inclusive, affirming, and trauma-informed therapy. Her work is guided by empathy, curiosity, compassion, and a deep commitment to social justice and cultural sensitivity. 

As a queer clinician, Carmen’s therapeutic perspective is informed by her lived experience within the LGBTQIA+ community. She strives to create a space where all clients—especially those who have felt marginalized or “othered” in the world—can feel seen, supported, and celebrated for who they are. Her goal is to foster a safe, collaborative environment where clients are empowered to explore their stories, embrace their authenticity, and build meaningful change.  

Carmen’s approach is integrative and individualized based on each client’s unique perspectives and experiences. She understands that each person’s identities and relationships are interconnected and shape their well-being. Carmen has specialized training in Expressive Arts Therapy, Somatic Experiencing (SE), and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). Her integrative approach utilizing these, along with other modalities, gives clients the tools to support emotional regulation, healing, and self-expression. Carmen tailors these modalities to each client’s comfort level and needs, helping them reconnect with their bodies, creativity, and sense of empowerment. 

Outside of her practice, Carmen can be found reading, enjoying time with her partner, and listening to her favorite music (mostly Kendrick Lamar). Her personal interests reflect her belief in active rest and connection to others as essential parts of wellness.
